Happy Royal Rumble Weekend! It seems like a long time since the last Pay Per View, in late December, and we’re back with a bang with this year’s Royal Rumble. This year’s event must surely go down as one of the least predictable ever! Nobody appears to know exactly what is happening and who will win. The last few years have seen the relative favourite pick up the victory, but this year it is so open. So predictions may be hard! Without further ado, here are our WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Predictions!

2017 Royal Rumble

So here we are one of the bigger PPV’s that WWE run on an annual basis – The Royal Rumble. Much anticipated as you are never 100% sure who you are going to be seeing appear in the ring! As the Royal Rumble moves into its 30th year this year, I can’t help but hope that means the WWE are going to pull out something spectacular for it.

It will follow the standard set up with 2 participants in the ring to start and then a new Superstar enters the ring every 90 seconds until all 30 members have made their way down the ramp to the ring. Elimination of course remains the same – you have got to go over the top rope and your feet have got to hit the floor.

It’s so very hard to guess who is going to win this match because we don’t know all the wild cards that will be thrown in, as of yet only 22 have officially been confirmed so that still leaves 8 spaces open. Who do you think is going to win? Half of me feels that they are setting up for an Undertaker vs Cena showdown at Wrestlemania, could this be Undertakers way in to that storyline? Could it be him vs Cena for the championship title as a main event at Wrestlemania?

Or could the Rumble see the long awaited and much anticipated return of Finn Balor? The bookies certainly like to think this has a strong possibility – with good odds on him to actually win it.

Based on the current Superstars that have been announced I am going to go with I think Undertaker is going to win, I feel that this has been building up for a while and makes the most sense.

Prediction: The Undertaker (but that may change before the weekend!)

WWE Championship

AJ Styles (c) vs John Cena

This could be an interesting match although Cena can be somewhat predictable to watch. If Cena wins the title again this will see him tied with the legendary Hall of Famer Ric Flair for the most title reigns ever.

This fued between Styles and Cena has been building up for some time now with Cena desperate to regain his championship role and Styles desperate to take every opportunity to mock Cena. So who will win in the big show down??

I think at the moment AJ Styles will retain the championship, whilst I do believe that Cena is going to go on and win it, I don’t think now is the time for this to happen.

Prediction: AJ Styles Wins

WWE Universal Championship

Kevin Owens (c) vs Roman Reigns

This match I am really looking forward to – if for no other reason than the fact Chris Jericho annoys me and he will spend the match suspended above the ring in a shark cage to stop him interfering!

In this no disqualifications match, Kevin Owens has got to go one on one with the powerhouse that is Roman Reigns. Without Jericho to protect him in some way, Kevin Owens is at the mercy of Roman Reigns and I highly doubt that he is going to have an easy ride of it.

My prediction is that Roman Reigns will take the title here, he is not going to go easy on Kevin Owens and without Jericho I just don’t see really how Owens is actually going to stand a chance – he has poked Reigns with a stick now for far too long – its time to stand up and take what’s coming to him!

Prediction: Roman Reigns Wins

RAW Women’s Championship

Charlotte Flair (c) vs Bayley

So here we are – another PPV and another match where the womens championship is on the line. Charlotte has never lost a title match on a PPV event yet – so will her luck see her through this match as well? Or has her luck ran out as we rang in the New Year?

Bayley is the only one of the original Four Horsewomen to have not yet held the title since coming over from NXT. Can she carry on and make history by being the first to defeat Charlotte in a singles PPV match and take the championship? She has proved already that she can beat Charlotte on several occasions so it really is hers for the taking if she can pull another win out of the bag now.

Charlotte is not likely to go without a fight though and will pull out all of her dirty stops to try and win this match. Will she win it outright without interference from Dana Brooks? It remains to be seen. I am not sure where the WWE are going with Charlotte’s undefeated PPV storyline so I have a feeling wherever they are taking us with this story – it’s not quite there yet! So I think, much as I desperately want Bayley to win (come on who doesn’t love The Huggable One?!) I think Charlotte will win this one – for now.

Prediction: Charlotte Flair Wins

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Rich Swann (c) vs Neville

Once friends, now sworn opponents. Rich Swann thought Neville was please for him at Roadblock, but it was far from what was going through Neville’s mind as he approached Swann in the ring that night! Neville wants the championship and he won’t rest until he gets it. He is still sore that he couldn’t compete in the Cruiserweight Classic and feels that it is because he is superior to the rest of the division.

Rich Swann is great to watch in the ring – very entertaining and really embodies what it means to be a champ. But how long can he keep it up? How long can he hold on to the belt as challenges are coming in thick and fast.

This match could really go either way to be honest, although I do feel Neville may have a slight edge as he is so driven at the moment.

Prediction: Neville Wins

Women’s Tag Team Match

Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch & Naomi vs Alexa Bliss, Mickie James & Natalya

This match sees several rivals come up against each other looking to settle scores. We have Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch and Naomi going up against Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Natalya.

There is so much going on in this match up. Feud’s all around! The biggest of course being between Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss after Bliss took the championship from the Irish Lass Kicker. I think with everything going on between all these women this match could escalate pretty quickly. All of them will be fighting to get in the ring and take on the other side at the same time. Luckily there isn’t much discourse between the team members this time – as has seen in the past with the likes of Sasha Banks and Charlotte having to team up.

I think this one is a bit of a tough one to call so I am going to go with my heart and say I think Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch and Naomi are going to win this one.

Prediction: Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch & Naomi
