In this brand split era, big events come around thick and fast. We’ve only just finished with Backlash and we’re on the road to Clash of Champions, the first Raw PPV of the WWE Draft. This is the first one with a bit of a gimmick – all Raw’s titles will be on the line. Included in this is the brand new WWE Universal Championship, as well as the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. All in all, on paper, this could be a decent show. But decent show doesn’t make money. As such, here are our WWE Clash of Champions 2016 Predictions.

WWE Universal Chamionship

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins

So, the first ever Universal Champion – Finn Balor – was injured in his title win, obviously proving Vince McMahon right that cruiserweights get injured. A tournament was immediately held to make a new champion, and what a champion was crowned. In the 4 way match: Big Cass was elevated, Seth Rollins was turned face, and Kevin Owens became the second ever Universal Champion.

Early days in the reign, and I feel Kevin Owens as a heel champ has a way to go. Rollins needs work as a babyface too. So I’m going to say that Owens is to win this.

Prediction: Kevin Owens wins

WWE Women’s Championship

Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

One person who has suffered this month has been Sasha Banks. Since losing the championship she had some time off to rest some injuries. They teased a retirement angle that was the absolute pits, and Sasha Banks has been plonked back into the feud for the title against Charlotte. Added onto the match on last week’s Raw was Bayley

I can see Sasha Banks regaining the title here, her face run hasn’t been the best, and her character seems like a better heel. With Bayley now on the main roster & in this match, I think the natural programme for a while should be Banks vs Bayley for the title. Charlotte will go off instead to fight her protegé – Dana Brooke.

Prediction: Sasha Banks Wins

Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho

One person that has been lost in the brand split has been Sami Zayn. Literally doing nothing since the split, he lucked himself with the best feud he can – Chris Jericho.

Heel Jericho has been brilliant. In a “So brilliant he may turn face” brilliant. I would love to see him in a program with Owens for the title come Survivor Series. Likewise Zayn for the title come Survivor Series. Because I think he needs the win, and also because a loss at a PPV doesn’t mean you don’t challenge for the title the next month (see Styles, AJ), I’m going for a Zayn win.

Prediction: Sami Zayn Wins

WWE Tag Team Championship

The New Day (C) vs. Gallows & Anderson

Well, fair play to The New Day, they killed one of the worst segments ever stone dead.

The segment was “The Old Day” segment, where Gallows & Anderson implied that The New Day are old. It was dreadful. The next week The New Day came out and effectively recognised it was terrible, and it was never spoken of again. That was good. Gallows & Anderson are doing their comedy schtick and it’s not their natural humour. Both teams should just move on a bit.

They’ve been dropping seeds linking The New Day to beat Demolition’s record. As such, I’m going for champions to retain.

Prediction: The New Day Wins

WWE United States Championship

Rusev (C) vs. Roman Reigns

Make no mistake about it, Roman Reigns is still “The Guy”, despite being slightly lower down the card.

They teased a three way with him, and he has been in many of the main events since returning. Somebody else who returned? Rusev. From his honeymoon. Their feud continued where they left off. Solid, if unspectacular.

Reigns is still being earmarked as a top guy. Make no mistake about it. As such, I am not sure how they make him look strong in defeat. I fear for a Roman Reigns US title run.

Prediction: Roman Reigns Wins

Best of 7 – Finale

Cesaro vs. Sheamus

So Cesaro had probably the promo of the night on draft night – saying he was poorly chosen to be drafted. Since Wrestlemania he has been floudering – as has Sheamus – and this Best-of-7 series has been poorly put together.

The key thing for the winner is “a championship shot”. The best storyline is somebody jumping to Smackdown for the Championship shot, but I feel instead the “Championship Shot” is for the US title. So if Reigns is becoming US Champion, Sheamus should be the next contender.

Prediction: Sheamus wins

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

TJ Perkins (C) vs. “The” Brian Kendrick

How good was the Cruiserweight Classic.

Great matches, surprise performers, but the best thing about it? Being treated like a sport. So many guys were made stars, including these two.

That was until they got put into the main roster.

I don’t know, the match wasn’t dreadful, but it felt rushed and didn’t really introduce the participants. Maybe in hindsight they’d have pushed it the week after to make it a bigger deal.

Anyway, TJ to win.

Prediction: TJ Perkins Wins

Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax

Alicia Fox is lovely. A very friendly person. But I cannot really be bothered commenting on this match. A squash and no mistake. Nia will win, and win easily.

Prediction: Nia Jax Wins

Anyway, these are my predictions, what are yours? please leave them in the comments!
