These Pay-Per-Views are coming thick and fast aren’t they? Feels like every time I sit down at the moment it’s time to write another review of this weeks PPV! Anyway let’s get to it shall we? Here are our WWE Backlash 2017 Predictions.

WWE Championship

Randy Orton (C) vs Jinder Mahal

So Randy Orton goes head to head against Jinder Mahal with the title at stake. Mahal has exploded onto the scene at Smackdown Live since joining the brand and has shot himself straight to the number 1 contender spot trampling over all in his way to get there. Does he have what it takes to take on veteran Randy Orton though or is he just the latest play thing to amuse Orton in his play pen for a while? I honestly don’t really see Jinder Mahal being a huge competition to Orton. Not after the matches he has had recently let’s be honest.

Prediction: Randy Orton Wins

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Usos (c) vs Breezango

Well this match has got the Wrestling Betting team divided here…. but as I am writing the article we will go with my thoughts! I have always looked on Breezango as somewhat of a joke but credit where it is due – they have managed to outlast American Alpha, The Colons and The Ascension to reach the number 1 contender spot. However if it hadn’t been a beat the clock challenge to get to this spot… would Breezango have still been the ones going into the ring against the Usos this weekend? I honestly don’t see them as real contenders for the belts, surely they will clash with their outfits or something?? The Usos have really come into their own of late and have stepped up to the plate as champions and really brought it to anyone who has dared to challenge their position.

El Jugador Update:  You may be writing it, Vicki, but I’m editing it. Breezango has been absolutely brilliant with their Fashion Files. Them to win.

Prediction: Breezango to Win (or maybe The Usos)

WWE United States Championship

Kevin Owens (c) vs AJ Styles

So now the whole Owens vs Jericho thing has been done to death, we are ramping up the Owens vs Styles feud… wonderful! These two are both the biggest little boys in the locker room thinking that they are mummy and daddy’s favourite and of course along with such proclamations comes all the squabbles and hissy fits you would expect. Only difference of course is the pure talent of AJ Styles could land Kevin Owens in some serious hot water this weekend. Some fans are pegging this match as the main event over the likes of Orton vs Mahal. This is the match to watch! You know whatever these two bring it is going to be worth watching! Will there be any interference? Will Owens be able to hold onto his title against Styles who is coming for him and his title? Either way I am looking forward to this match that’s for sure. I do find it very hard to believe Owens will beat Styles although Owens has proved he is capable of it. Can he do it this weekend? Maybe…

Prediction: Kevin Owens to win

SmackDown Women’s Tag Team Match

Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch & Naomi vs The Welcoming Committee

So another Women’s tag team match coming up, I will be honest – I would rather see a singles match but it is what it is and there we go. So we have stepping up to the ring Champion Naomi, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch siding against Natalya, Carmella and Tamina. This seems such an odd match as Charlotte wants the championship so why would she logically side with Naomi? And surely Becky will be off after the title again given a seconds chance, not to mention her history with Charlotte. This team could fall apart as easily as they could pull together. It remains to be seen which way they will go! However they collectively do have more experience than the self dubbed Welcoming Committee so this could be over very quickly. Maybe the Welcoming Committee will be sent to say their goodbyes this weekend? One can hope…

Prediction: Naomi, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch to win

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Dolph Ziggler

Well this one will be an interesting match to watch – purely for the fact that I love to watch Nakamura in action. This is the first time since he moved from NXT to SmackDown that Nakamura will actually be in a match. Ziggler of course cannot stand the fact the fans could like anyone more than him – when lets be honest…. it’s not hard to like someone more than him now is it?! He wants to prove that he is better than Nakamura and more worthy of the fans devotion and he plans to prove this by winning this match-up… I think Ziggler needs to go back to the locker room with his tail between his legs and have a long hard think about things, so hopefully Nakamura will send him on his way!

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura to Win

Sami Zayn vs Baron Corbin

These two superstars have been gearing themselves up for a clash in the ring over the last few weeks. Attacking each other resulting in this match up being set for Backlash. They will go one on one in the ring to settle whatever it is that started this current spat between the pair. Sami Zayn deserves to be utilised so much more than he has been the last 12 months so hopefully we are going to see great things starting to come his way soon. Can he tame the Lone Wolf this weekend and put him back in his cage? Or will The Lone Wolf make a meal out of Sami Zayn? It will certainly be a tough match to call if I am honest as it has the potential to go either way.

Prediction (El Jugador’s): Probably Baron Corbin

Luke Harper vs Erick Rowan

Another Wyatt Family battle to take place this weekend at Backlash. We have seen Orton and Bray Wyatt go relentlessly at each other and now it’s the turn of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. They came to blows last week on SmackDown where Rowan won the match but has decided he didn’t get all of the pain and punishment across to Harper that he had wanted to. So this weekend sees them go again to try and settle this score. Something tells me that Rowan won’t be happy until Harper cannot walk from the ring. But will Harper be ready for it this time? Is it his turn to get one over on Rowan and leave him in a heap on the floor as he gloatingly stomps his way back up the ramp to the sound of his victory cry?

Prediction (El Jugador’s): They seem to be slightly more behind Rowan since he came back, so probably Rowan
